Magnets, Ducks and Superconductors is a play and workshop which explores the impact of science and engineering on our daily lives, on society and on us as individuals. It engages 30 Year 9 pupils in a creative learning space and is designed to be inclusive of all pupils. The objectives of the project are:
- To deliver a high impact theatre in education play to Year 9 school pupils across the West Midlands
- To reinforce the impact of the play by the provision of teacher resource packs co-ordinated with the curriculum for follow-up activities
- To inform, through media coverage and other routes, a wider audience about the project and
- To evaluate our success in achieving these objectives
The performance are scheduled at Schools throughout the West Midlands from mid September-December 2010 and from early May to early July 2011.
Magnets, Ducks and Superconductors is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council under the Partnerships for Public Engagement Scheme. We also thank the Institution of Engineering Technology and the School of Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Marketing Services at the University of Birmingham for their support.
